Pre & Post Surgery Instructions(Hair Transplant)

                                           Hair Transplant

 There are only some minor preparations that you need to make before your Hair Transplant Surgery.

Pre-Surgery Instructions:
  1. We request routine blood test prior to your hair restoration including a CBC, an HIV and a screen for Hepatitis.
  2. Do not take Aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory medications for two weeks prior to your hair transplants as these may increase bleeding.
  3. You should abstain from smoking at least on week prior to surgery to two weeks after the procedure.
  4. A normal night's sleep is recommended the night before the procedure.
  5. It is recommended that you eat a normal breakfast or lunch prior to you procedure.
  6. Wash & Dry your hair on the morning of the procedure.Do not use hair spray the day of procedure


Post Surgery Instruction:

Several medications may be given to you;
  1. Antibiotic:  You may be given an antibiotic which prevents infection in the post-operative period.
  2. Prednisone: This aids in preventing swelling. It must be taken even if swelling is not present.
  3. Pain reliever: One to Two tablets may be taken every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
Alcohol should not be consumed while you are taking this medication.You should not drive any type of vehicle while taking this medication.

  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight for about 3 weeks.
  • Avoid the following strenuous activities for 3 weeks after Fue hair transplant: Body building, soccer, swimming.
  • In occasional instances,minor bleeding may occur from one or more of the graft sites.This can be alleviated by applying light pressure to the area with a moist clean cloth for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Apply ice packs in the donor area,an ice pack is applied directly to the area of the suture line for 10 minute per hour,while awake for 3 days.
Do Not Apply the Ice pack directly on the grafted site.

  • If swelling occurs, it usually does so approximately 48-72 hours after your surgical procedure.
  • Sleep with your head & upper body propped up on several pillows for the first 3 days.This will prevent swelling of the forehead.
  • Do not wash or disrupt the graft for 24 hours after surgery.
